Three Policemen were yesterday shot dead at Ibillo in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Edo State during a bank robbery. Two other policemen and two robbers also sustained serious gun injuries.

Saturday Sun gathered that an eight-man robbery gang had struck at an old generation bank in Ibillo at about 5.30 am yesterday and tried to shot their way into the bank.
According to eyewitness account, the robbers were said to have shot dead a policeman, who tried to resist them. They equally shot two other policemen.
It was gathered that the police had re-enforced and a shoot-out ensued. In the exchanges, two of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries.

It could not be ascertained whether or not the armed robbers carted away money from the bank as at the time of filing this report.
The Edo State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Peter Ogboi, while confirming the incident, said the armed robbers abandoned their vehicle, which was recovered by the police.
