A commendable Nigerian
judiciary

Ndi-Igbo in Diaspora, under the auspices of Pan Ndi-Igbo
Foundation USA, Inc. (PNF USA), highly commend the efforts of the Judiciary in
fighting corruption that has plagued Nigeria for a long time.
Stepping
out from a meeting where the foundation discussed among other things the corruption
cases in the court system in Nigeria, PNF USA, Inc. commended the efforts of the
judiciary in their handling of the cases of those accused of corrupt practices.
The President, Umaru Yar’ Adua, has shown his seriousness to fighting corruption
in Nigeria and PNF-USA, Inc. is happy to see that the judges are standing with
the administration on this front. Well-meaning Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora
have expressed loudly the devastating effects of corruption on a nation like Nigeria
and many have signed on to eradicating such ugly menace (corruption) in our society.
PNF-USA, Inc. believes that the judges are covering the flanks adequately and
are applying the law fairly, equally and equitably on every person without any
special favor.
The apprehension of some former state Governors and a
few others pending trial (by EFCC) has given confidence on the issue that no person
or group of persons is above the law or prosecution for wrong doing. Nigerians
at home and in the Diaspora who apparently gave up hope in the face of increased
hardship and frustration caused by the massive looting of some state treasuries
with impunity, by those entrusted to use it for the public benefit, are beginning
to see a glimpse of hope from what the administration and the courts have done
so far.
It is now obvious that as the judges apply the law equally and
judiciously on the culprits, the social amenities and infrastructures like Healthcare
facilities, Roads, Institutions of learning and many more would get the badly
needed attention from the recoveries made through the courts. Signed:
