Steve,

Today you are a mass communicator, journalist if you will, but from what I read in the Daily Sun every Wednesday, I have no doubt whatsoever in your ability to be a successful economist, medical doctor, astronaut, anything; given your love for knowledge and the way you have managed to organise your though process.

The level of sanity and dept of knowledge on display every Wednesday on your column is something so many people like me would have missed if you had chosen to be an economist instead. I may be sounding selfish but the truth is that the Sun wouldn’t have had as many customers with you as, say an engineer like me.

The problem with most of our professionals, be they doctors, lawyers, economist or what have you, is that most never bother to read a text book once they leave the university. This is why a retired judge whose tenor on the bench was anything but memorable, could come out today to fault one of the most sound judgements of the Supreme Court. The SAP economists need to make noise in order to appear to be relevant but the world today has gone beyond the best imaginations of the Adam Smiths of yesteryears.
May you remain blessed.
