It is no more news that President Umaru Musa Yar’adua is ailing and is alleged to be on life support.Neither is it news that he has adamantly refused to hand over power to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, who until the intervention of the court had no powers.

While the country raged and boiled, some asking for Yar’Adua’s immediate resignation and others demanding that he obeys the constitution, our President held tightly to the coveted throne, turning deaf ears to those who were calling for his plum job.
Despite his obvious incapacitation, President Yar’Adua whose innocuous appearance makes even the hardest of hearts to sympathize with him was not moved by the fact that his unconstitutional action was doing more harm than good, and everyone wondered why a man who prided himself as an ardent believer of the rule of law could so flagrantly flout the constitution.

Undisclosed sources however, squealed to us that the real reasons why President Yar’Adua has held on to power as if his life depended on it. It is not unconnected with the warnings some of his ‘advisers’ have been giving to him.
According to sources, the President while receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia was told by some marabouts and diviners who attend to him, to be wary of Vice President Jonathan, because if power is given to him, it was his destiny to keep it.

Like his name suggests, the Vice President Goodluck Jonathan is one person that can be described as very lucky. While he was the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, he immediately became the governor when his boss, Diepreye Alameisiagha was detained by the Economic and Finanial Crimes Commission(EFCC).
History may repeat itself again in his favor, though in a different circumstance as he was ordered to assume the position of an acting President by the court.
President Yar’Adua’s loyalists who are made up of two groups, the inner circle and the outer circle, are also determined more than ever to frustrate any effort that will make him hand over power.

It is said that the inner circle of staunch Yar’Adua loyalists are those that have his ears and eyes. This cabal runs virtually everything in the country, and it is this group that feeds the nation with news on his health. This powerful caucus is headed by his wife Turai, who many describe as ‘power drunk and over ambitious’. From the appointment of Ministers to the Permanent Secretaries, it is alleged that Turai is the powerful force that determines who gets any post.
It is also rumored that she almost single handedly ensured the appointment of the managing director of NNPC, and any minister that wants to see the President has to go through her. Such is the influence that this hitherto simple lady and her foot soldiers wield in the corridors of power.

Sources also say that other members of this inner caucus are Alhaji A. Ruma, Yusuf Tilde, the Chief Security Officer, and Taminu Yakubu, the Chief economic adviser.
It is said that the outer caucus of Yar’adua loyalists take directives from the inner group, as they do not have direct access to the President. They depend on the inner cabal for directives from Saudi. This group is said to be made up of Mansur Muktar, Bukola Saraki, Rilwan Lukman, the Petroluem Minister, Chief James Ibori and Michael Aaondoka

It is also alleged that in Saudi Arabia, it is Turai and her foot soldiers in the first group that determines who sees and talks to the President, and who does not. If she likes the look of your face or thesound of your voice, you may be lucky. It is such that even her son-in-law governor was said not to have gotten access to see hi sfather in-lawfather in law . father in law .

The controversial interview that the President had with BBC and who many saw as the joke of the century was said to have been arranged by Yakubu, but why he choose a foreign station instead of our own NTA or Voice of Nigeria is something that even the most intelligent of minds cannot comprehend.
What SBD and Nigerians are saying to these people who are only after their personal interests rather than the interest of the country is that 39 days are for the thief, but one day is for the rightful owner.

We know that the apprehension of these people, especially our first lady and o president is that if Jonathan eventually takes over, he may uproot them from power and deal ruthlessly with them. They fear that as a President, he may bring back the dreaded Ribadu to continue the war on corrupt officials and that will spell doom for them.
But what is yet to be seen, if Goodluck’s lucky destiny will, push him up to become the nations President.
