Out of favour Nigeria goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, is confident
that Hapoel Tel Aviv can make it out of their UEFA Cup group,
where they have been pooled with Spanish side, Getafe, Denmark's
Aaborg, Belgian giants Anderlecht and England's Tottenham
Hotspur.
“It’s a good group. Not too hard and not too soft,"
Enyeama told KICK OFF after the draw. "It's a fair group.
Tottenham are not doing very well and they have to come here,
so I believe it's a game we can win."
Enyeama also stated that Getafe and Anderlecht's ball playing
system might be easier to cope with than Tottenham's long
balls.
"We like to play against teams that play the ball on
the ground, but long balls can be a bit tricky."
The goalkeeper, whose saves earned Hapoel two clean sheets
and ultimately, qualification to the group stages ahead of
Swedish side, AIK, refused to be drawn into making a categorical
statement on qualification.
"When we played a draw at home in that match, I knew
we could qualify, but it was important for us to do the right
thing, and that was to keep a clean sheet. I knew that if
we could stop them from scoring, we could always get an opportunity
to score and that's what happened.
“In the second leg, they almost buried us in the first
five minutes with their attacking, but we held out. I made
some saves and we survived the first half. In the second half,
we won a free kick and scored. After that, the pressure was
unbelievable. We could hardly leave our own half. But we held
on and made it to the group stage.”
