Under-23 national team coach, Samson Siasia, has taken time off to reflect on what he observed during last week’s Olympics draw, and declared that, while the general populace believes the Super Falcons are in a tight spot, the team’s coach, Joseph Ladipo (Jossy Lad) is thinking differently.

Siasia admitted in a chat with brilafm that the Falcons are in a tough group, but believes Jossy Lad has a good team and many of them have played against their group opponents once or twice, which gives them an idea of what to expect come August in Beijing, China.

“The coach was there himself to see how things were going. Immediately after the draw, he recalled having played against Brazil before, and the other group opponents are familiar to him.

“He even had the chance of watching Brazil play against Ghana in China, just before the draw. All this has given him an insight into what to expect during the main competition itself.
“It’s a tough group, no doubt, but that is not to say our team would be a walk over for their opponents.

They too have come a long way and may just surprise us in the Olympics,” Siasia said.
He concluded with a recap of details of his immediate programme for Dream Team IV’s Olympic build-up, while pointing out that the much-talked about trip to United States of America has finally been called off.

“They wanted us to come over in July, but that’s the same time we are expected to be in China for a mini-tournament. We are also looking forward to playing friendlies in South Korea and China, before the main competition itself,” he stated.
