Coach Ben Duamlong has predicted that the 2008/9 Globacom Premier League holds better prospects than the current season, which he rated as ‘fairly good’.
"Next season promises to be better than this season.

The current season has been fairly good, but it could have been better but for the hiccups that arose from the crisis between the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and Nigeria Football League (NFL) boards," the veteran tactician observed.

"Before the crisis, the NFL had achieved some stability. I hope both bodies have learnt some good lessons from that crisis. I believe the experience will help us next season," Duamlong added.

The former Heartland FC of Owerri coach, however, tasked the NFL Board on getting corporate sponsorship for the clubs.

"Clubs must be financially independent if they must perform. The problem we have in Nigeria is that most of the clubs are owned by the state governments and the moment the government fails to release money, the clubs suffer," he explained.
"We are beginning to have the kind of league we dreamt of, but the government do not release fund as and when due.

"Our football authorities must work out ways of sourcing funds to assist clubs if the league must grow. In Ivory Coast for instance, companies pull funds together to support their league, and the money is shared to the various clubs. That’s why the clubs can go to France for their pre-season training.
