Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running-mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa in Anambra State, Professor Obiora Okonkwu has stated that 10 political parties in the state have endorsed the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the February 25 election.

Okonkwo who spoke to newsmen shortly after the meeting of the PDP presidential campaign committee at its state headquarters in Awka yesterday expressed optimism that Anambra State will give the party the highest votes in the South East zone during the election.

He declared further that all the South-East states are committed in the quest to rescue and recover Nigeria, insisting that PDP will win in the region overwhelmingly during the general election.

Okonkwo said: “Anambra is confident of victory. We are a liberal people who understand the dynamics of our politics and nascent democracy.

“Aside from the thousands of opposition party members who have defected to the PDP in Anambra since we began spreading the gospel of rescue and recovery, another ten political parties have adopted Atiku Abubakar and Senator Ifeanyichukwu Okowa as their presidential and vice presidential candidates.

“We are confident in the recovery agenda, the promise of true federalism, the stability of the nation’s economy and security, and other important policies that Atiku Abubakar has presented to Nigerians, particularly in the South-East.

“Hence, we are committed to their success in the forthcoming presidential elections, as the PDP will continue to win as always in Anambra State”, Okonkwo stated further.

The proprietor of the United Nigeria Airlines also expressed optimism that if Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa are eventually inaugurated president and vice-president of Nigeria respectively after the February 25 election, the current hardships Nigerians are facing will reduce drastically within the first week after their inauguration.
