The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested over 150 suspected thugs known as “Sara Suka,” fake currency traffickers, kidnappers and armed robbers and recovered 30 arms and ammunition from the hideouts of the criminals.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Baba Umar, told Daily Sun that the command smoked out the suspected thugs who were spotted behind Nassaraha Primary School, old Gwallaga, disturbing public peace and using offensive weapons such as machetes, cutlasses and knives and injured two victims:
“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives rushed to the scene and arrested three suspects: Rabiu Nura, Hussaini. Operatives attached to State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in collaboration with Toro Division arrested one Rilwanu with N6million suspected to be counterfeit. The Anti-Kidnapping Squad arrested four suspected members of the Black Axe confraternity who killed one Abdulkareem Bauchin. His decomposing body was recovered at Rugun Jira Mountain in Gwallamegi.
“Detectives in collaboration with the military attached to Gumau axis arrested two suspected Indian hemp dealers with five bags of dried leaves suspect to be Indian hemp. The suspects are Maitala and Danladi. They also arrested Adamu and Baiko of Siri village in Ganjuwa Local Government. They conspired and threatened one Isah on phone to produce N1million or they will kidnap his father. The suspects confessed.
“Police attached to Yelwa Division arrested Zaka, Umar, Emeka and Auwalu.They snatched a Toyota Matrix ash in colour with Reg. No. RBC 867 AR valued at N1.5million at gun point from one Hannatu Akanang and abandoned her with her three kids opposite Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi. Police recovered the car and seven bunches of keys. The suspects confessed the crime.
“Police at the Gamawa Division arrested Adamu attached to the division as a station guard. He went on rampage and shot one Danjuma attached to the same division on his abdomen with AK 47 rifle No BD 336715 loaded with 60 rounds of live ammunition.”
