The Abia State Police Command has arrested 15 suspected criminals in one week.
They were picked up for alleged armed robbery, kidnapping and theft.
Commissioner of Police, Mr Laye Oyebode, who gave a breakdown of the arrests, said on September 29, policemen got a distress call that a Mercedes Benz truck, SR511XA, was carrying pharmaceutical products from Lagos to the South-East, it was hijacked.
He said the truck, through tracking device by the State Anti- Robbery Squad, located the vehicle at the Umojima Area of Aba.
“The contents were being off-loaded to another truck which had registration number. The police arrested five suspects.” He said the police got a distress call that some hoodlums were raiding a house in Ulasi by Ngwa Road, Aba and arrested five suspects.
He said among the suspects was Ibenegbu, who had been on the wanted list of the police for robbing one Mrs Charity of N1millon and other personal items valued at N2.7millon.
According to him, following the kidnapping of two drivers, on September 20, along Port-Harcourt, Aba Express Road at night ,the police carried out raid on black spots near Imo River Bridge, Obehie where nine suspected criminal were arrested .
He said one of the suspects confessed that one Chibuike connived with some armed soldiers to steal a generator.
