The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, has confirmed the arrest of two suspects who allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl and impregnated another 14-year old girl after casting a spell on her with a charm and raping her seven times.

Kontagora stated this while speaking with newsmen at the police headquarters, Birnin Kebbi when the suspects were paraded.

He said that on October 19, 2022, one man, Ibrahim Abubakar of  Kasuwar Gari area, Dirin Daji town, Sakaba Local Government Area reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Sakaba, that on May 2, 2022, a 35-year-old man named Ahmed Ibrahim residing at the same address, deceitfully took Zuwaira Abubakar, a female aged 14 years to an 52-year-old man, Mallam Naziru Muhammd, who cast a spell on Zuwaira and subsequently had sexual intercourse with her for about seven times in the premises of Mallam Naziru Muhammed.

Following the sexual intercourse, the teenage girl got pregnant. The police commissioner further disclosed that the case was under investigation, stating that the case would be subsequently charged to court.

He also explained that in another matter, a man, Lawrence Johnson of Bena town, Danko/Wasagu LGA, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Bena on October 29, 2022 that a man named Christopher Pills, aged 30 years, had carnal knowledge of his daughter, Gift Lawrence, a minor aged nine years.

He said that that suspect was arrested, adding that he would be charged to court on completion of investigation.

Kontagora further disclosed that 20-year-old Ayuba Rege of Tadurga village, Zuru LGA, was found in possession of one locally made pistol in his school bag at Government Comprehensive High School, Senchi.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Police said that October 30, 2022, a police patrol team attached to Birnin Yauri Divisional Police Headquarters, intercepted one Garba Musa, a 25-year-old male and native of Tashan Alura village, Niger State, as he was conveying a lady, Amira Adamu, aged 20 and native of Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State.

“When interrogated, the said Garba Musa confessed to being a kidnapper and member of a kidnap gang led by one Ya’u, who is still at large. The police learnt that gang has eight members and have two AK-47 rifles. Further investigation led to the arrest of a male suspect, Hamisu Sule, 25, known by the nickname Hola of Zamfara State. The case is still under investigation at the SCID and will soon be charged to court,” he said.
