SIX persons including two policemen and four suspected kidnappers reportedly died in a lone vehicle accident along the Bauchi-Soro Road.

Daily Sun learnt yes­terday, that the cops, identified as Inspector Nuhu Usman and Ser­geant Nasiru Sale at­tached to the Soro Divi­sional headquarters of the Bauchi State police command, were convey­ing five suspected kid­nappers to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Bauchi, when the accident occurred.

Sources said the cause of the accident could not be immediately ascer­tained, but the vehicle bearing registration num­ber GJW 446 XA, was said to have somersaulted severally before it crashed into the bush, killing six persons on the spot.

Reports said the driver, identified as Yau Adamu and one of the suspected kidnappers whose name was not given, sustained injuries and were taken to the ATBU Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where corpses of the deceased were also deposited.

In another develop­ment, the police in Bau­chi, have arrested one Umar Audu and four oth­ers suspected to be cattle rustlers.

One AK47 rifle, a lo­cally made pistol, two magazines with 57 rounds of 6.72mm live ammuni­tion, and three handsets were said to have been re­covered from them. Other items recovered included one unregistered motor­cycle, 58 cows, 79 sheep and assorted charms.

This is coming just as operatives of the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) stationed at Hawan Kibo forest along the Abuja-Jos road, at the weekend, recovered live ammunition from seven Fulani men riding on three unregistered mo­torcycles.

It was learnt that four rifle butts, a mobile hand­set and N69, 530 were also found on the men who were promptly arrested and are currently being interrogated at the CID of the Plateau State police command.
