Igbo leader and Board of Trustees (BoT) member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in Anambra State, Rommy Ezeonwuka said those planning to destabilise party and cause division within it should think of relocating to avoid being disgrace.
In a statement, the BoT member of APGA said those jostling to unseat Governor Willie Obiano in the 2017 Anambra governorship race will fail, especially as they have nothing new to offer the people.
“The most important dividend any government can provide to its people remains security, which Governor Obiano has made tremendous progress on. We remember the state of security in Anambra some years ago. Back then over 80 percent of our businessmen and women left the state for other parts of the country due to incessant kidnapping and armed robbery. In about four years under Obiano Anambra has become the safest state in Nigeria. This is a wonderful achievement, difficult for any aspirant to surpass,” he said.
He called on those who left the party to return and join in moving the state forward, noting that, “everybody cannot be governor. What the state needs right now are ideas that will make it greater.”
He called on the National Assembly lawmakers representing the southeast region to raise issues that will impact positively on the region and its people.
He said: “If nothing is done to fix federal government roads in south east after the expiration of their tenure, then they would have failed the people.”
Ezeonwuka commended Governor Obiano for a job well done, saying, “with the meager fund accrued to the state, he has been able to pilot the affairs of Ndi-Anambra. Those who think he has not done well are either blind or are unfamiliar with progress. Today Anambra is number one in agriculture and security, with foreign investors flocking to do business in the state. Despite economic challenges facing the state and the country at large, the governor has ensured that projects aimed at improving the lives, welfare and well being of the people are been executed. This is government of the people with human face and integrity.”
