Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr has assured teen duo Kelechi Nwakali and Victor Osimhen that they are part of his plans for Russia 2018.
The duo were part of the Nigeria U-17 team that won the last World Youth Championship with Nwakali winning the tournament Most Valuable Player Award while Osimhen finished as top scorer.
Both players have since moved to foreign teams with Nwakali signing for Arsenal while Osimhen joined German side Wolfsburg, where he will become eligible to play for the team when he turns 18 in five days time.
Meanwhile Nwakali is currently earning rare reviews for his performances for MVV Maastricht where he is on a season long loan from Arsenal, a form that could see him earn a spot in Arsenal next pre season tour.
” We are monitoring them at close quarters. Osimhen is yet to turn professional but that is no problem, I have seen his talent at close quarters before the game against Tanzania, all he needs now is regular game time at Wolfsburg when he turns professional”, Rohr was quoted to have said.
” Nwakali is doing very well in Holland, he is one for the future alongside Osimhen but their club form will play a big role in them getting invited to the Super Eagles in the future.”
