Judex Okoro, Calabar

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has stated unequivocally that he is not bordered about his re-election in 2019.

Governor Ayade, who stated this during a media parley at Exco Chambers of Governor’s office in Calabar, on Wednesday, said the issue of his re-election a for second term was a done deal.

While imploring journalists to strive to educate the masses on his programmes and policies of his administration, the governor said he was not losing sleep over his reelection.

He maintained that having done well in the area of employment, industrialisation and prompt payment of workers’ salaries, the electorate would consider him worthy of second tenure of office.

“I play politics with ethics and values my father’s name” and stressed that was reason why he works absolutely very hard to ensure that he succeeds in his entire endeavour.

“If you ask me if am worried about my re-election, I will tell you I have no elections at all. Winning election for second term as governor would not be a herculean task given the fact that he had tremendously performed as a governor in first term.

“Over six thousand Cross Riverians whom he had given appointment is enough reason for him to be re-elected into office for second term as governor.

“I have no election because all matters concerning 2019 governorship elections scheduled for February next year where he will lock horns with the candidate for opposition APC in the state has already been settled,” Ayade stated.

Enumerating some of the achievements recorded so far by his administration, the Governor said on assumption of office in 2015, he upgraded thirty three civil servants to become permanent secretaries and regularised hundreds of casual workers from Department of Public Transportation, DOPT, and water board.

“I am also paying 2019 gratuity, increased subventions from one hundred sixty to about two hundred million naira for the Cross River University of Technology CRUTECH, to stop Cross River students from being driven out from school.

“If you are a Cross Riverian, who is willing to start an industry, please go to industrial park and take a land at the industrial park and start your industry, unfortunately no Cross Riverian has approach me for that,”  he explained.
