Ahead of 2019 governorship election, former deputy speaker of House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, has said he is prepared to serve the people of Imo State.

Ihedioha, who stated this yesterday in Ubomiri community in Mbaitoli council of Imo State when he inaugurated his support group for the 2019 election, said he is well equipped and prepared to serve the state, and that only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can repair the colossal damage visited on the state by the administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha.

“I am humbled by this rare show of love and genuine support for me. With what I am seeing here today, I can boldly say Imo is, indeed, ready to usher in the change that will transform the state. This endorsement means I have been accepted and commissioned to proceed.

“I am here to sensitise us ahead of time. I was invited to this meeting to witness your level of preparedness to usher in a government that will be responsible and responsive to nagging questions in Imo.

“With all humility, I want to assure you that I am motivated and ready for the battle ahead. It is also symbolic that, apart from other groups that have asked me to contest for governorship,  Mbaitoli is the first local government area to have endorsed my candidature.

“I want to promise that by God’s grace and with your support, I will not disappoint you. PDP is the only party that can repair the colossal damage Governor Okorocha has caused our state.”

Earlier in his speech,  the Coordinator of Team Ihedioha, Mbaitoli Local Government Area chapter, Chief Julius Onyenaucheya, while welcoming Chief Ihedioha, assured him of their loyalty and support for his governorship ambition, which he described as “timely and the only sure way of recovering and rebuilding Imo State.”

Onyenaucheya, a former executive chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area  called on Mbaitoli people across party divide to embrace the Ihedioha movement as the only means of developing and empowering the area.

Also, Henry Nwawuba, member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said, “my brothers and sisters, Imo is in dire need of good governance. I don’t have too many things to say. Governor Rochas Okrocha has failed and I want to present to you today, the next governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha.

“When he assumes office, we will be adequately compensated. He is our brother and we have confidence that he will not deceive us. He is experienced and dedicated to duty.” He urged the people to obtain their voters’ cards to enable them exercise their franchise.

Present at the event were PDP chieftains from the local government, including Chief Peter Orji, National Ex-Officio member of PDP, Mrs. Maria Mbakwe, state PDP Women Leader, Chief Ben Mere, Prof. Obioma Iheduru, PDP LGA and Ward officers  and market leaders, among others.
