Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, has sacked his Commissioner for Education, Prof. Halimatu Sa’adiyya.

The 2019 general elections in the state contributed to her removal, it was gathered.

A statement by Masari’s Senior Special Assistant (Media), Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, said the sack was with immediate effect.

The statement quoted the governor as thanking Sa’adiyya for her services and noted that, “taking into account the fact that political activities leading to elections would commence early next year, it has become necessary for  the government to bring more active politicians on board, so as to fasten activities of governance.”

In  a December 21, 2017, letter titled: “Letter of appreciation and disengagement,”  Masari said her contributions to the development of the state’s education sector, in particular, and the government, in general, cannot be over emphasised.

“During her term as commissioner, schools were rehabilitated and upgraded, new ones were constructed, teachers were trained and the atmosphere made more conducive for learning and teaching.

“However, as political activities for the 2019 general elections are about to commence, it becomes imperative for government to bring more active politicians on board to fasten activities of governance.

Masari also wished the removed commissioner  God’s guidance in her future endeavours.
