Paul Orude, Bauchi

The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is confident that it will defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties in Gombe and Taraba states in the 2019 general elections.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State gave the assurance after he was screened as the gubernatorial aspirant of the PDP by the Screening Committee of the party at the Zonal Secretariat, in Bauchi State, on Saturday.

Governor Ishaku  boasted that the PDP is battle ready to win more states in the North-East geopolitical region considering the acceptability of the party in the region due to what he described as the failure of the ruling APC to deliver.

The governor, who is the sole aspirant of the PDP, in Taraba State, explained that his achievements have endeared him to the people of the state that was the reason no one is contesting the PDP ticket with him.

He expressed optimism that the PDP would spring electoral surprises in the North East geopolitical region in the 2019 general elections.

The governor also said that his administration has excelled in the areas of education, agriculture and prompt payment of workers’ salaries.

He assured that the administration has plans to do more for the people of the state.

On the screening exercise, the governor commended the Committee for doing a good and thorough job declaring that it was a transparent exercise in line with the guidelines of the PDP.
