A social critic and former Lagos State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari could still contest the 2019 election provided his health condition permits him.

In the same vein, a national coordinator of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Garus Gololo, has claimed that the President is healthy enough to rule Nigeria.

Both Tsav and Gololo spoke with Daily Sun in separate interviews against the backdrop of calls by prominent Nigerians to the President to resign and concentrate on his health.

But while Tsav noted that age was not a barrier for the President to perform his duties, he, however, opined that since Buhari’s doctors had advised him to take some rest, it was necessary for him to heed their advice.

According to Tsav, “Buhari’s age is not a barrier at all. After all, President Mugabe is older than him and still ruling. If he (Buhari) is strong enough, why not? He can even contest for 2019. However, if his health will not permit him, he should take a rest.”

On his part, Gololo, who claimed that he saw President Buhari, in Abuja, last week and even shook hands with him maintained that he (Buhari) is very healthy and fit to rule Nigeria.

“President Buhari is healthy and not sick. We met and spoke with him last week. Those calling on him to resign are opposition. He is healthy and capable to contest in 2019. Mr. President is coming solidly and he will win again.”
