From Okey Sampson, Umuahia
Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Abia State, Mrs. Ngozika Johnson-Ogbuneke has said the state needs to have a break in its leadership chain and start on a fresh note.
She said a situation whereby those who have superintended over the affairs of the state for the past 20 years without achieving anything and still wants to continue, should not be tolerated.
The SDP standard bearer who stated this in Umuahia, said what Abia needs now was fresh, credible and transparent leaders who would pilot the affairs of the state aright.
“The current situation of Abia State does not need the same people who have been in the system over the years, mismanaging its funds.
Lady Ogbuneke queried why somebody that led Abia State University and Abia State Polytechnic to their present pitiable conditions should still have the temerity to come out publicly to canvas for votes.
“We need fresh, credible and transparent candidates who will salvage Abia from its present sorry state”.
Mrs. Johnson-Ogbuneke challenged all the gubernatorial candidates in the state to declare their assets as a way of sanitizing the rot in the system.
She reiterated her readiness to declare her source of income publicly and urged her opponents to come out openly and tell Abians their sources of revenue too.
She called on all the eligible voters to go and register in the on going Voters registration exercise as to vote in credible leaders to manage the affairs of the state in 2023.
