North-West zone of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC ), has called for the extension of the voters’ registration exercise, even as the closing date by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) comes to an end.

INEC had, following public outcry, extended the Voters’ registration to July 30, 2022 to enable the people register for the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

However, the call for the extension, according to the party followed mass rush by eligible voters to get registered ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Also, the party called for the creation of additional registration centres, saying that the creation of additional registration centres would ease difficulty that were being faced by the eligible voters.

The Zonal Publicity Secretary, North West APC, Musa Mailafiya Mada, made the call while addressing Reporters in Kaduna on Friday.

Mada explained that thousands of eligible voters might be disenfranchised as they could not beat the deadline for registration.

According to him, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should look inward and extend the exercise.

“We want to call on INEC to look inwards and extend the exercise so that people will get their PVCs. INEC should know that the whole exercise is about people. So it will not be unfair to disenfranchise them” He said.
