From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja

The College of Bishops, Council of Immams and Council of Nigeria Bishops, in collaboration with the Leaders Alliance Network, have endorsed Senator Rochas  Okorocha for President in 2023.

In a keynote address read by Archbishop Dr Joe Wealth and Dr Paul John Paul, President
of Leaders Alliance Network, the group, at a prayer session in Abuja, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to give Nigeria Senator Okorocha as his pathing gift.

The group further insists that the choice of Okorocha as the best candidate for President is based on his track record as a unifier and his compassion for the downtrodden.

They described the Senator as an epitome of equity, peace, justice and fair piay.

The group argued that going by zoning arrangement and based on equity and justice, Senator Okorocha, an lgbo man, is suited to become the next President of Nigeria.

‘Bishops and Immans from the different states of the country Okorocha’s philanthropic disposition across the country has clearly distinguished him as the best candidate for the plum job,’ the group said.

‘Rochas Foundation has provided free Education for the less privileged Nigerians across the states and villages. We therefore call on President Buhari to consider Senator Okorocha as the best parting gift in 2023, we also urge all and sundry to pray and support Rochas’ candidature as the next president of Nigeria.

‘The evidence of Okorocha’s intimidating credentials, avalanche of numerous honors and awards given to him across the country such as Owelle Ndi Igbo, Dan Jekan Sokoto, Maga Alheri Hausa, Omorodun of Yorubaland, Okalla of EI’Che, Jagaban of Lafia, has positioned him as generally acceptable Presidential candidate.

‘Rochas is a man who believes in having strong institutions over powerful individuals which according to him will help in solidifying Nigeria’s democracy and preserving the rule of law which is the immediate ingredients in sustainability of our constitution.

‘We are convinced Rochas will hit the ground running by finding lasting and sustainable answers to unending questions on our unity by ensuring a country were equity, justice and fairness prevails.

‘I want to thank you most sincerely for finding Senator Okorocha worthy of this endorsement, I want to assure you people here today that Rochas is a man of his words and his love for Northerners can not be qualify with any other, you will never be disappointed by giving him your total support.

‘I urge you all to mobilise human and material resources in ensuring emergence of Okorocha as President of Nigeria at 2023 poll,’ the group stated.

There is nothing democratically wrong to openly shows support for a candidates towards an election but it is politically unacceptable and unreasonable to endorsed a candidature in the name of Bishops and Imams in a manner that keep allowed religion sentiment and its tendencies to wrongfully influence political mentalities of people as if offices of the President and Governors as well as Members of Parliaments are primarily religious office So when would Nigeria political culture rule out religious hypocrisy out of Governance and on matters of Democratic leadership?
Religious groups and associations in all their names in Nigeria together add to the current political instabilities that always turned every National issues to either Muslims VS Christians or North VS South, these instabilities rocking the unity of Nigerians was a confirmation that religious leaders in all their capacities had derailed from their primary religious obligations by turned the altar to political platform and prayers mean gaining unnecessary financial benefit from an elected office holders So who will preach to corrupted leaders that abused powers and office?
Nigerians are sick and tired of President, Vice President and Governors turning places of worships to decieve people as if they FEAR GOD, Showing President Buhari in the media every Friday in The Mosque and Vice President Osinbajo every Sunday in The Church only interpreted Nigeria barbaric political culture because a healthy and friendly Democratic society nobody bother or care about the religious of a leader and religious never be the subject of campaign for a candidature in an election.
