A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Enugu State Chief Chinedu Eya has warned against overheating the state’s political atmosphere ahead of 2023 election, while saying the recent alliance between some forces in the state government and certain defunct political family will fall like a pack of cards.
Chief Eya, who spoke on the heels of a major political rally in the state, organized by the former Governor of Enugu State Sen. Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani few days ago, described the state wide rally as a “waste of the state’s megre resources.”
In a statement personally signed by the former Enugu North Senatorial Aspirant in the state, Chief Eya described the rally as one “capable of destabilizing the peace in the state.”
“The rally was not necessary because Sen. Ekweremadu has the constitutional right to contest the 2023 election in the state.
“He has both moral and democratic rights to contest same election at the same time.
“It is heartbreaking that a group of people can come together in this age of civilization to insist that a qualified candidate should wait until next eight years to express his franchise.
“Politically, what you do with such candidate is negotiation, not political horse-trading.
“Let’s be honest with ourselves. Are we following the constitution or someone’s political interest?
“We must wake from our slumbe before we are consumed by desperation,” the former Senatorial aspirant explained.
He cautioned that Ugwuanyi should be allowed to make every necessary political decision affecting the state’s governance as undue interferences is capable of causing similar catastrophy in the polity.
Chief Eya further explained that power belongs to God, and only him can choose who becomes Governor if the state in 2023.
“Who even knows who will be alive in 2023?
“You remember the saying that man proposed, but God disposes,” he concluded.
