Lawyers in Enugu state have pledged to support the candidacy of Barr. Peter Mbah, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flag bearer in the state.
The lawyers who converged under the auspices of Enugu Liberal Lawyers for Peter Mbah, endorsed the candidate insisting that he possesses the required leadership qualities to lead Enugu to greatness.
The Director General of the group, Barr. Eli Ugwu in a speech, said that Mbah has proved himself both in private and public sectors.
Barr Ugwu who is also a member of the legal council of the state PDP campaign team added that Mbah ranks ahead of other candidates vying for the same position in other political parties.
“We thank you for granting us an audience today. Most times, lawyers seem to distance themselves from the process of selecting leaders but we think the right thing is for everyone including us to get involved.
“We will do everything within our powers to ensure that you are victorious. Even if it requires 100 lawyers, we have the capacity to make them available. We will work with you because you are the best candidate.”
In his response, Barr. Peter Mbah, thanked the group for their support, noting that the support, coming from his colleagues, was the greatest support he has received.
“So the opportunity to have this engagement is one that I feel honoured to have and I thank you all very much. I thank you so much for taking ownership of what is rightfully yours. Because for me this is a vote of encouragement for us.
“A vote to say if you trust a lawyer to lead and he discharges himself or herself creditably it means that tomorrow you can also look on to another lawyer to entrust the future of your children and our unborn children.
“So I thank you for being part of this project and taking ownership of it. And for me it is a mission I believe is bigger than all of us.”
