The candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Engr. Joseph Ewuga has boasted that he will defeat incumbent Governor Abdullahi Sule at the governorship election in Nasarawa State.
Recall that the governorship election is slated for the first quarter of 2023.
This is Just as Engr. Ewuga said governor Sule is afraid of the growing strength of Labour party.
Addressing a large crowed that hosted him in Akwanga, put together by Community Base Awareness And Development Network For Nasarawa Youth, Ewuga, said he was ready to replicate the incident of the 2011 election when an incumbent seeking for re-election lost to the opposition candidate at the poll in the state.
He said, “Well, as far as Nasarawa State is concerned, the precedence we have here was that an incumbent governor lost election in Nasarawa State in 20211.
“If it happens again, it is not anomaly. It is the right thing to do. As long as the particular person that is elected into an office has not done well, obviously, the people that make choice will choose who will go for them.
“They would not want a repeat of failure. It is natural thing. Forget about the money that is being spent by anybody. If people know what they want to do, they will do exactly what they want to do.
“My appeal to the electorate is for the electorate to start to look at candidates now from the point of view of their antecedence, from the point of view of what they have done in the past, from the point of view of who they are, what they have been able to do in the society at large.
“On our own, we are not buying the electorate. We appeal to the conscience of the electorate for them to make a choice between us and some other persons that are in the race. Don’t vote people base on their religion or what they have but base on what they can offer; Ewuga advised.
The LP governorship candidate encouraged the people to sustain their believe in the party.  Adding that even the incumbent governor was afraid of the growing strength of the party which is the main reason why he doesn’t talk about his achievements but labour party anytime he is engaged in television interview.
In their separate speeches, the state coordinator Community Base Awareness And Development Network For Nasarawa Youth, Sam Akwashiki and Reginald Onoha, state coordinator of Ibo and Chairman Multi national ethnic groups Nasarawa state Said the Youths in the state were patiently waiting to deliver Ewuga and all the LP governorship candidates in next year’s elections.
They promised to take the message of  LP to every community of the state.
Ewuga had earlier with his team attended a thanksgiving service at Living faith church Lafia, where he received prayers before proceeding to Akwanga.
