From Jeff Amechi Agbodo, Onitsha
A member representing Onitsha North/South federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu has said that she stand a better chance of emerging as Speaker of the House as the highest ranking member in the South-East geopolitical zone, if re-elected in 2023.
Ikpeazu who disclosed this while inaugurating her Campaign Council for the re-election in her residence at Onitsha said that she has garnered enough experience, networking and connections to clinch the Speakership if she returned to the House next year.
The lawmaker went down memory lane on her journey so far where she took her time to elaborate on what the presidential system of government entails especially as it affects the legislative arm of the government at the federal level.
She stated the need for the electorates to be know that there’s no time limit or tenure limit for the election into the House of Representatives and to be wary of mischief makers and agents of doom whose stock in trade was to spread of unsubstantiated stories about her person.
Ikpeazu explained that years of experience counts most in membership of the National Assembly as new entrants can not achieve much more than a ranking member of the House of Representatives.
She emphasized that principal officers and key positions were exclusively reserved for the ranking members of the National Assembly and as such, no new entrants can gain the advantage of such a privileged position without being a ranking member.
She advised the electorates to make a wise choice and look out for the PDP logo (the umbrella) in the ballot paper and vote accordingly for her to return to continue with her laudable work.
The lawmaker however charged the campaign council members to move to the streets, markets and communities to mobilize support for votes, saying that as a grass root politician  she has affected so many lives and attracted many life saving projects to the constituency.
She gave the names of the campaign council as follows; Chief Frank Onuoha (Director General), Mr. Ken Ezeazu ( Deputy Director Onitsha North), Mr. Francis Nwoye (Deputy Director Onitsha South), Dr. Noel Udoji ( Secretary South), Mr. Patrick Ononye (Secretary North), Mr. Obum Inoma (Director Security), Mr. Alex Anah (Director Party) and Mr. Anene Oraegbuna (Director Security).
She said that other members of the campaign Team will be inaugurated by the DG on a later date.
In his remarks, the Director General Chief Frank Onuoha thanked Ikpeazu for finding them worthy to pilot the affairs of her campaign, assuring that they will mobilize support for her reelection due to her track records.
