A newly wedded couple, Blessing and Desmond Adamson shocked the public on Saturday, when they drove straight from their wedding ceremony to join Thousands of Labour Party (LP) supporters for the Abuja rally.

Also in the crowd were popular musician Charlyboy and Nollywood actor, Kenneth Okonkwo.

The pro-Obi supporters amidst heavy security , marched from the Unity Fountain to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium and finally converged on the Abuja City Gate.

Speaking at the rally, the groom, Mr Desmond Adamson said there was no way he could miss the rally and called it a blessing coinciding with his wedding.

He said: “Knowing that today, which is my wedding, happens to also be the day for the Obidient movement, I told myself that after church, I and my partner will come straight to join the rally to.”

His spouse, Mrs Adamson equally had this to say: “We want to have kids in a country that is free from violence, insecurity, free from poverty,and hardship. That is why I said I must be here today to lend my support to the obidient movement.

The rally saw the unveiling of new coinages which the protesters in unionism used. One of the spectacular ones was “Obicracy” which they described as “A system where the masses choose a competent leader without structure over incompetent leaders with structure”.

Another supporter, Nana Sani Kazaure, said:“We are here for Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed because we believe in credibility. We believe in character, we believe in competence. And we are here to show that we are not just a social media structure. Our votes will not be on social media. On that day, we will come out in mass and our voices will count.

In his message to Nigerians the actor and former All People Congress (APC) member, said: “We are here to March for our freedom. Freedom at last. Before now, Nigerians have been living in bondage. But we are no longer living in bondage. We are free. Enough of these old men spoiling our destinies. They have spoiled their own destinies, they cannot spoil our own destinies. We have waited enough for them. We can no longer wait. We are taking our destinies in our hands. Nigeria should be one of the firsts in the world but these evil leaders want to make us last and we are saying no to them.”

The youths who constituted majority of the crowd, swore to vote and defend their votes on the election day, to ensure Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed emerge victorious, saying that that would signify the beginning of a new Nigeria, where good and inclusive governance will thrive.
