Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, over his comments urging the his supporters to grab power and run in the 2023 polls.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, while speaking at a press briefing,in Abuja, on Friday, said Tinubu’s charge to his supporters, after his appearance at the Chatham House, is tantamount to inciting violence ahead of the 2023 polls.
Ologunagba recalled that in 2015 that those who do not vote for the APC will drown in the Lagoon. He noted that the threat was taken a notch higher in the 2019 polls, as PDP supporters were allegedly taken in their strongholds.
He said “when someone begins to take politics as war, I think is condemnable. You will recall only two days ago there is a viral video from the presidential candidate of the APC saying ‘political power is not going to be served in a restaurant, you did not serve it alar cate, it is worked, it is being determined, you do it at all cost, you fight for it, snatch it, grab it and run with it.’ That is not what Nigerians want.
“What Nigerians want is for you to bring the ideas, debate the ideas, let the people decide. What he has done now is begin to instigate violence and say to his people go ahead grab it by all means.”
The PDP spokesman added ” it started with a threat if you dont vote for the APC we will throw you into the lagoon that is fresh in our memory.
Where you are talking to a set of people a tribe trying to promote tribal conflict, and say if you vote we send you to the lagoon.
” In 2019, consistent with that threat it was taking to the next level and you, the next level was a next level of violence. You recall that the PDP was leading very well in Lagos, during the election after collation when they found out that the PDP has won, they unleashed terror.
“Again they are telling us that you grab it and run with it then they ran with those result fraudulently so, but the people of Nigeria have now said enough is enough.
