From Paul Osuyi, Asaba
Candidates of Labour Party in Delta North senatorial district (Anioma) yesterday said they were inspired by the past performance of the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.
Led by the senatorial candidate in the district, Ken Kanma, they said they personally witnessed Obi’s performance in Anambra State.
Speaking in Asaba during the flag off of Labour Party Delta North senatorial campaign, Kanma said because of the proximity to Anambra State, the people of Anioma did not read in the media about Obi’s transformation in the neighbouring state.
“I was inspired to follow Peter Obi. You know Anioma is very close to Anambra; we saw what he did there; we did not read about it in the media; we are witnesses to his performance; that is why we are following him,” he said.
According to him, Peter Obi remained the hope of Nigerians for 2023, adding that the solutions to the myriad of challenges bedevilling the country were contained in the manifesto of Labour Party.
Kanma urged Nigerians to vote for all candidates of Labour Party in all the elections, insisting that it was the only way Nigeria could get out of its present predicament.
If elected senator, Kanma said he would ensure that the bills that support the Labour Party’s manifesto are passed, as part of his primary responsibility.
His words: “The solution to insecurity is not magic; we will mobilise the citizens to start protecting themselves; we are looking at community policing. The solution to pervasive hunger is moving away from consumption to production.
“In Delta North here, we will create wealth for the people under the production maxim. Delta North must become a place of attraction.
“We will attract infrastructure so that investors can come in and create employment. Our intention is to ensure that Delta North is adequately represented.”
