The former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida Rtd. (IBB), expressed his optimism in the presidential aspiration of the APC presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba II, being a catalyst for a better Nigeria led by the youth.

He made these remarks recently while receiving Adamu who paid him a courtesy visit at his Hill Top home in Minna, the capital of Niger State.

According to him, Adamu is a brave man whom Nigerians must appreciate for what he is trying to do.

In his words: “I want to commend you for your bravery. You have my best wishes and my blessings. People must understand that what you are doing is for the good of your country. Nigerians should appreciate what they are trying to do.

“I hope you try to mobilise people of like minds. A lot of us, when we entered politics of governance, were about the same your age. I used to tease my colleagues then, that I am about the oldest around 40 years of age too.

“I urge you to keep it up and try as much as possible to get in touch with like minds, people of your age groups, with vision who will want to see Nigeria move forward.”

Garba at IBB’s Hilltop residence in Minna, on Thursday, while fielding questions from gentlemen of the press, harped on the importance of his visit to IBB. “You know as a good child, you can’t do something without passing through your elders and seeking their blessings, guidance, and support. That’s exactly what we are here to do. We are very happy with his words of encouragement.”

Garba, however, bemoaned the economic meltdown of the nation, as he proposed creation of nine geo-economic zones as against the six geo-political zones, among other measures towards resuscitating the economic status of the nation.

The presidential hopeful, Adamu Garba, affirmed, “we believe that Nigeria is supposed to be an economically defined component. That is why we proposed to create nine geo-economic zones as opposed to the six geopolitical zones we have.

“We will also create a national delivery unit that will be responsible for economic and political development.”

The aspirant also noted his game plan to create a very massive infrastructure and rejuvenation plan that will help reintegrate the whole country together and try to bridge our supply lines.

He added that, “we believe Nigeria is supposed to operate more of a supply chain defined country whereby the linkage between our country and our friends outside should be the main driver of how we will reintegrate ourselves,”

In turn, he added that this move would reconcile the trade between the North, East, South and West so that people won’t hate one another when the opportunity to trade between themselves arises.

In line with his manifesto, the aspirant listed his core objective to include economic, political, and security development and also in the area of reformation of the civil service.
