2023: Reject Presidency by proxy Peter Obi tells Nigerians
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter
From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri
The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party ( LP), Mr Peter Obi has said that he  will end the perennial strikes in the nation’s tertiary institutions if elected president of Nigeria .
He also promised that his government will revamp the health infrastructure across the country for the benefit of the people .
The former Anambra state governor who stated this while addressing a mammoth crowd of party supporters at presidential campaign rally held on Tuesday at the Nwankwo Kanu Sports Centre in Owerri , the Imo state capital .
Obi said ” I want to assure you today that if I am elected as the president of the country in February our administration will end the perennial university strikes because we will take education seriously as that where the future of the country lies . We will sit down and negotiate with the Lecturers and all the contending issues will be sorted out. The promise we are making today is not a fake one because we have the capacity to turn things around .
We will also ensure that our tertiary institutions are properly funded . We will also revamp the health infrastructure and make quality health accessible to our people across the country .”
The LP Presidential further stated that his administration will cut the cost of governance  and to make more resources available for the benefit of the people.
” We will cut the cost of governance by cutting off frivolous spending and channeling the resources into productive sector like agriculture so that we will not only produce food for ourselves but for export . Imo state has the capacity to export both oil palm and cassava but that has not happened because of lack of  investment in this critical sector. But we will energize that sector “
He called on Imo people to vote massively for the Labour Party at all levels as Nigerians are already tired of leaders who steal their money for their self aggrandizement .
” I want you the people of Imo to vote massively for our party to win so that we can take our country back . We are tired of leaders who steal our money for their own self -aggrandizement and leaving our people in poverty . I am the only governor who did not only invested for state but also left Billions of Naira and the records are there . I also never allocated a piece of land to myself, neither me or my wife executed any contract and I will also do same if elected president of Nigeria because the resources of nation  should be used for benefit of the people “.
Speaking earlier , Dr Datti- Ahmed Yusfu, Vice presidential candidate of the party ,told the people of Imo that this is their chance to reclaim by voting massively for Peter Obi and that good Nigerians must end bad governance in 2023
” My coming here today means that we have accepted Peter Obi in the North. My coming here means that Nigerians have accepted him. So, it is time for Nigerians to reclaim their country .Good Nigerians must fight against bad governance and this is the time. We must support Peter Obi as it our only chance and you the people of Imo must support him to win ” .
