The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has presented certificates to no fewer than 2,033 groups and associations it has registered, in the bid to consoldiate its subsisting successes, being the party to beat during the forthcoming gubernatorial and state house of assemby elections.

Speaking at the ceremony in Sokoto, state party chairman Alhaji Isa Sadiq Acida said that all the registered groups and associations comprise of bonafide members and loyal supporters of the APC across the state.

“This ceremony is just to rejuvenate the activities of the groups, whose members have been working tirelessly to bolster the formidable strength of the party in the state and in Nigeria generally,” the party leader said.

“We will work collectively with these groups, stakeholders, leaders and membership of the party statewide, to roundly replicate the outstanding achievements of the APC during the February, 23, 2019, Presidential and National Assembly polls, with the party getting all the senatorial posts, as well as nine House of Representatives seats out of the existing eleven in the state.

“The party also happily had another tremendous showing during the elections, with President Muhammadu Buhari massively re-elected by the patriotic electorate in the State and Nigeria at large.

“While appreciating this enviable and invaluable gesture by Nigerians, we are also humbly appealing to them not to be complacent, with a view to trooping to the polling stations on March 9, 2019, and elect all APC Gubernatorial and State Assembly polls,” he explained.

Acida projected that he party would make clean sweep the forthcoming elections, with a view to return the state on the path of growth and development.

The chairman disclosed that the APC was opposed to recent calls for violence and anarchy during the polls by some leaders Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in the state.

Acida said that, lthough the APC was aware of various plans to perfect this destructive agenda, party supporters and voters should steer clear of all acts capable of breaching the peace before and after the polls.

He appealed to the various security agencies and the electoral officials to conduct themselves diligently, lawfully and patriotically.

Also speaking, the State Treasurer of the party, Alhaji Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiya, its Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Danyaro, and a state EXCO member, Alhaji Bello Mai Jama’a, expressed optimism that the APC was set to win the forthcoming polls in the state, as well as across Nigeria.

The trio underscored the numerical strength of women and youths groups, and their invaluablle contributions to the successes recorded by the APC.

In her speech, the State Chairperson of the Buhari Campaign Organization, Hajiya Ni’ima Hassan, said women, youths and other vulnerable groups are solidly behind the APC, vowing  that “we will troop to the polling units and massively vote the party’s candidates during the forthcoming polls.”

She added that, “we have no any iota of doubt that we will be victorious during the forthcoming elections, just like we happily recorded during the last Presidential and National Assembly polls.

“Our Gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, and his running mate, Alhaji Faruk Malami Yabo, would be elected. They will emulate the unparalleled footsteps of the leader of the party, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, when he was the Governor of the state between 2007 and 2015.”
