The National  Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said an average of 2,503GWh of electricity was generated and sent out by the 25 power Generation Companies (Gencos) during the second quarter of 2017.
Quarter Two Power Generation Statistics Report posted on NBS website indicated that Egbin Power Plant contributed about 11.22 per cent of the average energy generated during the period. According to the report, the generation from Egbin represented the highest generation among the 25 power plants during the period under review.
The report also indicated that daily energy generation attained a peak of 4,079MW on May 29, while daily energy sent out on same date was 4,014MW.
It also reported that the highest daily energy generated per hour attained a peak of 97,891 MWh on  May 29, while daily energy sent out per hour on same date was 96,334MWh. This, according to the report, represents the highest level of energy generated and sent out in May for the quarter.
The NBS report, however, said the lowest daily energy generation of  2,679MW in the quarter was attained on April 9, while daily energy sent out on that date was 2,638MW.
