As the Abia governorship crisis rages, a group, Ukwa-Ngwa Youth League (UNYL) has called on the authorities to ensure that Dr. Uche Ogah was sworn in as governor without further delay.
In a release signed by the president, Destiny Nwagwu and secretary, Izuchi Ikpeazu, the group said the nullification of the election of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and declaration of Ogah as the governor by the Federal High Court, Abuja, was a welcome development.
It equally commended the National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for doing the needful by giving Ogah the Certificate of Return in line with the ruling of the court.
“We, the Ukwa-Ngwa Youth League are calling on the Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Justice of Nigeria, President Court of Appeal, Inspector General of Police, Nigeria Bar Association and the Chief Judge of Abia State to swear in Ogah as the governor of Abia State without further delay,” the statement said.
Reeling out what they said Ukwa-Ngwa youths have suffered in the hands of their political leaders, UNYL urged youths in the area not to be allowed to be used as political tools this time around.
“We are also calling on the so called Ukwa-Ngwa political leaders to bring back home their sons and daughters abroad to join us in this hard time and for any fight,” the group said.
