The Orji Kalu Media Office has blasted Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for misleading the general public on the February 23 National Assembly  election in Abia North.

The media office said this in reaction to a fake report being circulated on social media that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the National Assembly election in Abia North inconclusive

INEC returning officer for Abia North, Dr. Charles Anumudu had, on Sunday, February 24, in the presence of all other party agents and the media, at Ohafia Girls Secondary School (OGS), Amaekpu Ohafia, Ohafia Local Government Area, declared Kalu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the senatorial election.

Kalu polled 31,208  votes to beat Ohuabunwa, who scored 20, 801 votes and Chief DAvid Onuoha-Bourdex of All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) 11,410 votes.

“Upon declaration of the results by the designated returning officer, we expect all contestants to accept the results in good faith or seek redress in the court of law.

“We are, by this statement, advising the public to disregard the malicious and fake news being circulated by the PDP candidate and his cohorts.

“We express our gratitude to the people of Abia North, for their unflinching support for Kalu and the APC. We urge members of our party to remain calm and steadfast.”
