Following the alarm raised by the All Progressives Grand Alliance and other political parties, that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Abia, has concluded plans to rig the forthcoming election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to resist any form of electoral fraud in the state.
Addressing a Town Hall meeting in Umuahia, yesterday, a chieftain of the APC in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state, Ezeigbo Okoroafor, called on the electorate to be vigilant, and added that the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led state government has failed the people.
According to the retired civil servant, “Abia State government has inflicted pain on the people.”
Okoroafor stressed that “no amount of falsehood and propaganda will make Abians give up in their determined efforts to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and the three APC senatorial candidates for Abia North, Abia Central and Abia South; Dr. Orji Kalu, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu and Sir Marc Wabara, respectively.”
He added: “ We are aware that former governor T. A Orji and his son, Chinedu, have concluded arrangements to thumbprint ballot papers in their houses before the elections. We have reported the situation to appropriate authorities and, in no distant time, the needful would be done.
“The antics of the PDP will not work this time around. The Federal Government will not tolerate any act of electoral manipulation.
“The APC has fielded candidates with robust popularity and acceptance and, as such, we believe in one man, one vote. Abia state will move to the next level on Saturday.”
While urging security agencies to speed up their intelligence-gathering in the state, Okoroafor stressed that “Abians will not hesitate to attack anyone found violating the electoral process.”
