The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kano State Chapter, has announced its withdrawal from the forthcoming Local Government elections organised by the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC).

The party has also threatened to drag the Commission (KANSIEC) to court if it went ahead and published its name and logo on the ballot papers for the said election without its expressed consent.

The State ADC Chairman, Musa Shuaibu Ungogo, made this known during an interview with journalists in the State on Monday.

He insisted that his party was never contacted by KANSIEC prior to the commencement of the election process and has never contemplated taking part in the election of Chairmen and Councillors in the State.

He added that the party has already made clear its position adding that they were surprised to see a list of 42 chairmanship candidates and another 400 councillorship candidates purporting to be contesting for these positions under their party’s ticket.

He insisted that ADC has not presented any list to the electoral body while adding that it has become necessary to call on the electoral body to remove the name, logo and the purported contestants from their ballot papers.

Ungogo, who was displeased by the situation, wondered where KANSIEC received the list of ‘contestants’ for the purported elections after they had clearly stated that they were not participating in the exercise.
