Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina has bagged a Monumental Award from students of Foursquare Gospel Fellowship of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurun, Delta State.
The award was given to Mr. Adesina during the 2016 Foursquare Gospel Fellowship Students Week programme in recognition of his service to the nation as a professional in the media industry and positive impact in the lives of young and upcoming generation of Nigerian leaders.
Adesina, who was represented by Mr. Emmanuel Ogoigbe, thanked the students for considering him for the award along with prominent Nigerians, including the senator representing Delta Central District, Ovie Omo-Agege.
He urged the students to take their studies seriously since that was the only way they “could become useful to themselves and the society,” and added that they “should act as worthy ambassadors of the nation” anywhere they found themselves.
He reiterated President Buhari’s resolve to empower young Nigerians through the current programme of the Federal Government, which, he said, would employ about 5,000 youths across the country in the next two years.
The president special assistant also noted that the decision by the Federal Government to scrap post-University Matriculation Examinations (UTME) was informed by the decision to make admission into tertiary institutions less cumbersome students.
On his part, Chairman of the FUPRE 2016 Students Fellowship Week programme, Mr. Onni Joseph Yusuf, said the students had been monitoring Adesina’s activities for a while and found him worthy of the award.
