Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo will today lead top military brass to the closing ceremony of the 19th edition of Chief of Naval Staff U14 boys/ 17th edition of  Nigerian Navy Officers Wives U17 girls football competition going on in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.

Admiral Gambo who is the special guest of honour will be joined by the Chief host and Governor of Kwara State AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who will be accompanied by top officials of the state government to witness the grand finale of the week-long championship.

Also expected to be on ground are the National President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna who also doubles as Deputy Governor of Kano State, YSFON  Vice President, North Central, Mustapha Allahdey ,Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji, Kwara State YSFON chairman, Ademola Kiyesola, Mallam Tunde Kazeem of Kazolinks amongst others.

The finals which will be decided at the Kwara State Football Academy Complex will see host state, Kwara team taking on their counterparts from Enugu State to decide winners of the competition.

To get to the finals, kwara state defeated Edo State by 1-0,whil Enugu  state beat Kebbistate 3-0 in the second semi-final match to get to the finals.

In the girls category, Kwara State will lock horns with the winners between Osun and Benue State in the finals.

Meanwhile National President of YSFON, Dr. Nauru Gawuna has commended all the teams for their discipline throughout the duration of the tournament urging them to maintain it in the finals.

He was full of praises for the Nigerian Navy for its consistency in sponsoring the competition which he described as second to none in grassroots football tournament in the country just as he assured Nigerians that they will witness an epic final.
