A former member of the Senate and South-south leader of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Senator Rowland Stephen Owie, has called on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to forward the 2014 confab report to the National Assembly for legislative action.

In a statement yesterday, Owie, who is a former Senate Chief Whip, said there was no point heating the polity over restructuring when the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan had done the needful with the 2014 National Conference.

He said: “There is no point heating the polity over restructuring of the country when the needful had been done by the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration with the last 2014 Confab. I am aware that the National Assembly (NASS) leadership has requested the executive arm of the Federal Government to forward the 2014 Confab report to the NASS for the purpose of legislation.

“Nigerians should know that no matter the number of ad hoc confabs held; the number of zonal press conferences given, none of the recommendations can become legal until they pass through the legislative process to become laws. I urge the Acting President of Nigeria, whose party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), promised Nigerians heaven and earth in their manifestoes and during their campaigns, to urgently forward the 2014 confab report to the NASS for legislative action.”
