Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, paid a courtesy visit to the state House of Assembly to solicit their support and cooperation.

The duo had disagreed over the order of the governor, directing the Local Government Chairmen to vacate office in line with the judgment of the court that sacked them.

The Speaker, Timothy Owoeye, disagreed with the Governor over the reversal of the slogan of state slogan to ‘State of The Living Spring’, saying the usage of the state anthem, crest, and flag is an enactment of the law and usage is not a choice.

Owoeye after the congratulatory visit to the Governor last week also ordered a status quo on the Local Government pending the determination of the matter by the appellate court.

A statement by the press secretary to the speaker yesterday, Kunle Alabi, stated that the Governor paid a courtesy visit to the assembly to seek their support and cooperation to move the state forward.

Adeleke at the plenary of the Assembly stated that since the government is a continuum, his administration will not abandon any of the projects embarked on by the previous administration of the State.

He said, “now that election is over, I want everyone to join me to move the state forward. Government can not do it alone. We have an enviable state, everyone must be ready to play their part for the state to move forward.

The speaker promised that the Assembly will do everything to support his government saying they may only disagree with the executive based on facts of the law and not sentiments.

“Under my leadership, be rest assured that this Assembly will support your administration according to best global practices. Also, your administration must continue to uphold the rule of law and principles of fair hearing. Any deviation from this path may lead to a state of anarchy and crisis,” Owoeye added.
