INDICATIONS emerged last night that the Police have rescued former minister of state for Education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, from her abductors.

It was gathered that the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Squad helped Anisulowo regain freedom at about 8:20pm yesterday A top police officer, who declined to be named, said the kingpin and mastermind of the former minister’s abduction was arrested by the special squad and has been taken into custody.

Anisulowo, who represented Ogun West Senatorial  District in the Senate between 2003 and 2007, was kidnapped by four gunmen along Sawonjo-Imasayi Road last Wednesday.

On Monday, Ogun State Police Command promised to pay a N5m ransom to anyone with useful information that would lead to the rescue.

Last Saturday, Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, ordered the deployment of two helicopters to conduct surveillance duty in the state.

While the rescue operation lasted, the state police Commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali and some other senior officers of the comamand relocated to Ilaro for the rescue operation.
