Tunde Omolehin, Sokoto

Suspected armed bandits have killed no fewer than 16 people in Sokoto State.

The attack was carried out on Monday night at Daliga, Rakkoni and Kalhu communities in Rabbah Local Government Area of the state.

Rabbah LGA has continued to be under bandits’ attacks for the third consecutive time; the attacks have claimed many lives and property.

The latest attack was announced by the state Governor, Alhaji Aminu, Waziri Tambuwal, while addressing journalists on post elections violence in the state.

According to him: “This sad development once again makes it necessary to call on our security personnel to rededicate themselves to their more-critical duty of defending the lives and property of our people and avoiding being distracted from their constitutional role by unscrupulous politicians, who seek power at the cost of the lives of the people,” he said.

The governor, however, commiserated with the families of the victims, praying God to forgive the deceased.
