Emmanuel Adeyemi, Lokoja

Senator Dino Melaye again escaped an assassination attempt in Lokoja, Kogi State on Friday when a volley of bullets was sprayed on his vehicle.

An eye witness said the senator in company with some PDP stalwarts were coming from the GRA residence of former governor of Kogi State, Alh Ibrahim Idris, when his vehicle was attacked.

Speaking with newsmen, Melaye alleged that the attackers were actually police men who came from the Government House, Lokoja that wanted to kill him

He said although there were other PDP stalwarts namely Tunde Ogbeha, Senator Saliu Ogembe , AVM Saliu Atawodi, Clarence Olafemi, among others that passed through the gate of Government House at that time, he was actually the target of the attack.

He said the Tyre of his G-wagon car and two other vehicles were seriously hit by the bullets but thanked God that there was no casualty.

According to him “by now I would have been dead if I was not in a bullet proof vehicle, but I thank God almighty because their evil plan has failed again.”

He said the postponement of the election was a postponement of evil day for the APC and postponement of celebration for the PDP.

According to him if the elections were postponed 100 times, it was certain that Atiku would win the presidency and he also would win the Senate even as he appealed to his supporters not to be wary about the postponement.

Efforts to contact the state PPRO, Willy Eya for reaction was abortive as several calls put to his cell phone were not responded to.
