From Paul Osuyi, Asaba

Supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti-Ahmed, yesterday, shut down Asaba, Delta State capital in another round of rally.

It was the second time in three days that the enthusiastic supporters, better knowsn as Obidients and comprising mostly youths, were engaging in road walk to galvanise more support for the Obi-Datti presidential ticket. They had on October 1, engaged in the street show, bringing socio-economic activities to a halt for several hours.

Monday’s road walk was not different as members of various support groups under the ‘Obidient’ movement converged at the Inter Bau Flyover, marched through West End, Nnebisi Road to Traffic Light at Ezinei junction before returning to the starting point.

However, Monday’s rally had security cover unlike that of Saturday when the groups walked round the streets without security agents.

State coordinator of one of the groups, Kingsley Imoni-Ogbe of YES Peter Obi Support Group, insisted that the former Anambra State governor was the only candidate among contenders that could turn things around for good in the country. He said the rally was a demonstration that Nigerians were tired of its old politicians, adding that for the country to make progress, there was need for free air which according to him, Obi represents.
