The reconciliation committee for aggrieved governorship aspirants in last primary for the 2023 election of the All progress Congress (APC) in the seven states of the North West sat, yesterday, in Kaduna.

But the party’s governorship aspirants in Kaduna State, Sani Sha’aban and Bashir Abubakar were absent at the meeting.

The meeting was called by the National Vice Chairman, North West Zone of the party, Salihu Lukman who is the head of the committee.

Governor Nasir El-rufai, his deputy, Hadiza Balarabe and other party leaders and top government officials were in attendance.

Lukman said Kaduna was the 6th state in zone that the committee had visited, adding the next and last state would be Katsina State.

He advised all aggrieved members of the party in the zone to reconcile to avoid the Zamfara State experience of 2019 where intra-party crisis made the opposition party, PDP to win the election.

Sani Sha’aban, a former House of Representative Member, who aspired to be the state governor for the 2023 election rejected the consensus candidate of the party, Senator Uba Sani soon after the primary.

Sha’aban had petitioned the national headquarters of the party and instituted a legal case against the emergence of the consensus candidate for the next year election.

Former Assistant comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Abubakar was also absent at the reconciliation meeting.

The party’s flag bearer, Senator Uba Sani was also absent at the meeting.

Reacting, National Vice Chairman of North West zone, Salihu Lukman said those absent got notice of the meeting late.

He said  they informed the party that they were busy and could not make it to the meeting.
