The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, has stated that the State Ministry of Agriculture is set to generate over N1.2 billion internal revenue this year.
She said this at the weekend during the 2022 Lagos food fest held at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event featured Sanwo-Olu as the special guest of honour and other Nigerian celebrities.
But for the challenges of Russia-Ukraine war and the economic crisis, she said Lagos was hoping to generate at least N3 billion from agriculture.
On the importance of the food festival, Olusanya said it is a platform for Lagosians to relax and unwind with their families during the festive season.
Earlier, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, urged for increased responsible cooking as he joined chefs as they displayed their culinary skills in traditional food.
Speaking before the cooking event, Sanwo-Olu said food plays a vital role in connecting Nigerians to their heritage. According to him, cuisine helps in the promotion of Nigeria’s culture, image and national pride.
He commended the Ministry of Agriculture for putting together the Food Festival to exhibit local delicacies and agricultural commodities produced in Lagos for the international market.
