New Commissioner of Police,  Akwa Ibom State,  Mr. Olatoye Durosimi, has promised tough times for criminals terrorising residents: “They either repent or leave the state because this state will be too hot for them henceforth.

“The command has arrested 30 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists, recovering arms and ammunition from their hideouts.

“We will deal ruthlessly with the hoodlums. We are chasing them out of Akwa Ibom for residents to sleep with their two eyes closed as well as making the residents to have confidence in the police.

“I have addressed my officers and men to comply with the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Aikali’s vision and mission to imbibe good community relationship and professionalism in carrying out their duties. I have warned them to shun corruption.

“My  men have been advised to stop extorting members of the public. They should build relationships so that after retirement, they can be well received into the public space.

“The command is ready to work with the human rights  groups and other sister security agencies to enable us achieve the set goals. We want to build confidence in the public that the police force is friend.

“We need the assistance of the stakeholders, community, clerics, students, market women, traditional rulers and youths to work together to enable the state have peace.

“Police operatives arrested some suspected kidnappers cultists and 10 others in Uyo axis. They recovered some pump actions and  20 rounds of cartridges from the hoodlums.

“Operatives raided some other hideouts and arrested 15 suspected armed robbers who had robbed different victims in their houses and different locations in Uyo. The suspects confessed to have killed some victims during operations.

“The suspects will soon be charged to court after  thorough investigations.”
