The Executive Director (Operations), SBM Ltd, Emmanuel Aihie, has lamented the general state of insecurity in the country, noting that the situation has continued to deteriorate by the day; fearing that it might get worse with politics and general elections around the corner, “because the armed gangs will become unemployed again when the politicians no longer need them.”

The man who narrowly escaped death recently in the hands of gunmen spoke to Saturday Sun on his sinking worries: “Everywhere, bandits have taken over the Nigeria highways. One can no longer tell or predict which of the express roads will be next. They now strike on Ibadan/Akure express road and exactly the road where I know two executives in the entertainment industry lost their lives in a bus conveying five of them somewhere. The other three in the Toyota bus were able to run into the bush for safety. I can narrate this because I was one of the survivors and I reported the ugly incident to the police.”

Aihie praised the Lagos State Police Command for stoutly rising up against a notorious group, “One Million Boys,” and putting their activities in check. But, he added that it is still tough living a normal life in Nigeria because of the rising cases of insecurity. He called on the security men to do more to safeguard Nigerians life and property.
