Air Peace Airlines has taken delivery of a third Boeing 777-300 aircraft in preparation for the commencement of its international flight operations.

The aircraft touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 3.20pm to a spectacular water salute by firefighters working with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Chairman/CEO of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema, who spoke at a ceremony at the MMIA to welcome the aircraft said it would be deployed for the Lagos – Dubai and Lagos – Sharjar (United Arab Emirates) routes in April 2019.

Onyema said the airline had to go for the three B777 aircraft to have sufficient back-up aircraft prior to launching its international operations.

He said the wide-bodied B777 aircraft has the capacity to carry over 374 passengers and that it is a safe and very trustworthy aeroplane.

According to Onyema, each of the B777 aircraft when put to use will create about 1,500 jobs for Nigerians.
“We will start international operation in a month to Dubai and Sharjar. We did not bring in the aircraft to park for the fun of it,” said Onyema.

“We are ready to use them. We want to make Nigeria proud. This is one airline trying to do something different. We need the support of Nigeria.

“One of these aircrafts will create 1,500jobs for Nigerians and we have to look at the impact this will have on Nigerians.

“Those who are out there to look at where I come from to pull me down should first of all look at the thousands of lives am creating jobs for, irrespective of where I come from.

“At present, I have created jobs for over 3,000 Nigerians,” Onyema added.

Onyema said that the airline had earned the respect of financial organisations and other critical stakeholders in the global aviation industry, and demanded government support.

“Both the government and people of Nigeria have been complaining that there has never been any successful Nigerian airline. This is one airline out of Africa trying to do something different. All we need at this point in time is the support of everyone – both the government and people of Nigeria,” he added.
